This poem was the second part of my poetry submission in high school. For inspiration, I looked to the Great Commission in the final chapter of Matthew; I also drew on sermons that mentioned having a heart like God’s for the lost.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Call\u201d (#2)
\nGo, My children, preach My Word
\nTo those in the world who have never heard.
\nDon\u2019t you know their suffering? I do-too well;
\nTheir sin is dragging them down the path to Hell.
\nSo why don\u2019t you go and reach out, you who are My hands and feet,
\nGo from your comfort zone and share with whoever you meet.
\nDon\u2019t be afraid, I am with you forever and now;
\nJust give Me the chance to use you, and I\u2019ll show you how
\nThe lives you touch will change-it\u2019s quite a surprise
\nHow people\u2019s hearts transform with Me in their lives.
\nIt\u2019s true some will reject the message, and into sin flee;
\nJust remember that it\u2019s not you that they hate, but Me.
\nBut focus on the changed ones, and those whom I hold dear;
\nFor each one I have shed more than just a tear.
\nI went to the cross, and there suffered and died;
\nTheir sin was redeemed when I was crucified.
\nBut unless you go to them, and you speak of this,
\nThen alas, My sacrifice would become meaningless.
\nSo go, My children, and tell them, enduring the strife,
