You, o God, are the only one I know
\nWho will follow and help me to go
\nAnd stay on the right path-all the way-through thick and thin,

\nBut I know You aren\u2019t just a fair-weather friend;
\nWhen I\u2019m in pain, I look up-and then
\nI see You there, going through it with me;
\nIn my sufferings, I\u2019ve never seen You flee
\nAnd leave me alone-no, Your love is too great
\nFor You to leave any of your children as vulture bait.
\nYou stay with them all, and weep by their side,
\nFor the suffering church is always on your mind.
\nWhen a relative dies without choosing to know you
\nThe mourning believer knows this to be true:
\nYou know their pain-You see everyone who dies every day
\nThose who are in darkness, and those who know the Way.
\nYou never leave anyone-it\u2019s their choice to leave You
\nOr stay and abide, and learn what to do
\nWhen pain hits home: they run to You,
\nAnd they can find comfort in all that they do.
\nYou follow us everywhere-even to the shadow of death
