Why do I do what I do?
\nWhy do I follow the command to obey and please you?
\nIs it because of the supernatural thrill the world does seek
\nOr is it something deeper-something unique?
\nI believe it\u2019s because of the reason You made me-
\nTo honor and glorify You-and also namely
\nTo know You in a relationship where all that I do
\nHonors You alone, and leads others to You.
\nIt is not an easy path-but then, nothing worthwhile is;
\nThe coming of Jesus into me comes right away-but \u2018tis
\nA life long journey, as one learns to live like Him.
\nTo follow wherever He leads-sometimes risking life and limb
\nFor the Gospel-other times simply resting and reading His word,
\nAnd then going and preaching to those who have never heard.
\nEventually, all Christians-some sooner than others,
\nWill become in character like Christ, and live like brothers
\nIn Him and to Him-not differing from Him,
\nFor, without the light that He has, all is beyond dim.
\nAs His followers, we must learn to grow in Him,
\nAnd open our minds and hearts to His voice;
\nAnd when He commands us to speak to others,
