{"id":501,"date":"2016-05-17T08:52:09","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T08:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielgaul.com\/?p=501"},"modified":"2016-05-17T08:52:09","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T08:52:09","slug":"college-poem-35","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danielgaul.com\/?p=501","title":{"rendered":"College poem #35"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cA Prisoner of Passion\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In my mind, I find myself asking \u201cWhat kind of life do I truly desire?\u201d<br \/>\nJesus is the rightful ruler of my existence, yet I long for sensations that fill my veins with fire.<br \/>\nI am called to a life of purity and service to my Lord, yet in sin\u2019s pleasures do I bask.<br \/>\nI am bound and enslaved, a prisoner of passion, and so for strength and deliverance I do ask.<br \/>\nI cry out \u201cFather, free me from the garbage in my life that keeps me from being the man You desire;<br \/>\nGive me the strength to turn away from sin, and quench its passion-filled fire!<br \/>\nBreak the endless cycle of failing battle that consumes and cripples me with strife,<br \/>\nAnd bring Your glorious victory over sin and death into my life.<br \/>\nWhen You enter in and cleanse my heart, evil and sin disappear like a mist.<br \/>\nYour Word is bread and living water for my spirit; only through You I truly live and exist.<br \/>\nGive me a heart that is willing to learn how to follow all of Your ways;<br \/>\nChange my mind and heart to reflect Your own, so that nothing of sin stays.<br \/>\nTeach me how to properly obey Your commands as I follow You, away from my captivity.<br \/>\nMay I praise You for all the things You have done, and in my life to You be all the glory.<br \/>\nMay You, Lord Jesus, always be my first love and passion,<br \/>\nBecause You showed me, a sinner, Your love and compassion.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cA Prisoner of Passion\u201d In my mind, I find myself asking \u201cWhat kind of life do I truly desire?\u201d Jesus is the rightful ruler of my existence, yet I long for sensations that fill my veins with fire.
