{"id":504,"date":"2016-05-25T06:29:22","date_gmt":"2016-05-25T06:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielgaul.com\/?p=504"},"modified":"2016-05-25T06:29:22","modified_gmt":"2016-05-25T06:29:22","slug":"college-poem-36-second-to-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danielgaul.com\/?p=504","title":{"rendered":"College poem #36 (second to last)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this poem, I reflected on how callous or apathetic we can become to the Gospel and its eternal implications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo Tears for Jesus\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Who lifted up their voices and wept when Jesus Christ was condemned to die?<br \/>\nWho takes the time anymore to contemplate what He did to save you and I?<br \/>\nSo often, we think concealing emotions is good, that somehow, doing so makes us strong.<br \/>\nBut the truth is, to deny the hurt and hide the pain was and always is wrong.<br \/>\nOn the cross, Jesus took on all sins from all time; He bore the punishment for humanity\u2019s every crime.<br \/>\nJesus came to free us from our sins, and a way to new, everlasting life make.<br \/>\nWe are bound as prisoners by our nature and choices, and those chains only He can break.<br \/>\nYet do we consider how much He hurts when against Him we choose to rebel,<br \/>\nForsaking Him for our own desires and for pleasure our lives sell?<br \/>\nIf not for Jesus, then weep for yourself, for having rejected His grace for the world\u2019s scraps.<br \/>\nThe life it promises is but a fleeting mist, a field in which souls are ensnared in baited traps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this poem, I reflected on how callous or apathetic we can become to the Gospel and its eternal implications. \u201cNo Tears for Jesus\u201d Who lifted up their voices and wept when Jesus Christ was condemned to die?
